Waveney Valley Lakes Environmental Policy

Waveney Valley Lakes is set within the valley between the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk. We work hard to enhance our park and to encourage the abundant wildlife within the area. Our customers are encouraged to enjoy the surroundings and participate in the conservation of this rural idyll.

CONSERVATION

We aim to minimize the impact of our business on the environment by conserving energy and water and by reducing our light pollution. It is anticipated that when the time comes for refurbishment of the toilet blocks these will have motion sensitive lighting, timed showers and push button taps. Subject to conditions at the time it is hoped that in the future we will phase in energy saving lighting systems in the shop, sales office and toilet/shower blocks. A new office door has been fitted this year that is double glazed and draught proof.

WASTE AND RECYCLING

Our aim is to reduce pollution and waste at landfill sites by recycling wherever possible. We have a recycling bank for cans, plastic bottles, paper/cardboard and glass. Vegetable and plant matter is composted on site. Customers are encouraged to do "their bit" by recycling wherever possible and by economic use of water and energy. We operate a "turn it down, turn it off" policy on the park. Trees once cut down are used as logs on the wood burning stove in the Sales Office and the rest used as path edging or chipped for pathways. Ink cartridges are recycled by sending them to RSPCA and RNLI.

COMMUNICATIONS

We aim to minimize paperwork. Our preferred form of communication is email where no paper, ink or transport of mail is involved. Customer information sheets remain in the caravans and clients are asked for their feedback in the form of an email through ratethispark.org Information is available through our website both for holidays and sales thus negating the need for brochures.

LOCAL COMMUNITY

We are committed to working as closely as possible with our local community, both as good neighbours and by employing local people and tradesmen. We encourage our customers to respect our neighbours with careful driving and by keeping noise and pollution levels to a minimum when entering and leaving the site.

We strive to use local suppliers and contractors who have a good environmental policy themselves.

OUR AIMS FOR THE FUTURE

We will strive to maintain our good record on recycling. We will continue to seek ways of reducing our energy footprint and to minimize the impact of our business on the Environment. To maintain and enhance our links with our local community.
